Selma’s opponents had better be alert next season. The Lady Saints, already one of the better teams around, are working to get even better this off season.
Some Lady Saints along with a few hopefuls, attended the Freda Freeman Jackson Girl’s Basketball Camp, June 16-19 at Alabama State University.
Senior Tyease Jones, who made her first trip to the camp, said she thinks the extra work improved both her game and her team.
Santana Seay stood out at the camp.
She made it to the finals in the one-on-one competition. She was named Camper of the Week out of 186 players.
Kimberly Wilson and Ashley Green earned individual awards.
Every player on the team also received team awards.
The camp worked on fundamentals in the morning. They worked on post and guard play, box outs, shooting, defense, passing, ball handling and free throws.
Then in the afternoon, the teams played three or four games each day against some pretty tough competition.
