An alert to current and future Dallas County businesses &045;&045; the County Rd. 145 industrial access road is back on track.
According to Dallas County Probate Judge Johnny Jones, about a three-mile stretch of County Rd. 145 running through two industrial parks will be paved and widened as originally planned.
Members of the Industrial Access Road Committee met Tuesday in Montgomery to decide the fate of the $2.5 million project. Jones said a unanimous vote of the committee resumed project funding. Committee members are responsible for distributing and managing industrial access funds.
The project &045;&045; one of many across the state &045;&045; had been halted after the change in state administration. Jones said construction will resume as soon as Alabama Gov. Bob Riley gives official notification.
Jones noted that a number of people had made the project possible including Team Selma and state Sen. Hank Sanders.
The road’s completion will allow quicker access to U.S. Hwy 80 and Montgomery, according to Jones.
