4-H Club games hot, but amusing

It was hot and humid Saturday afternoon, but the boys and girls participating in the Dallas County 4-H Club Round-Up did not seem to mind. They were too busy focusing on the games they were playing.
There were only a handful of participants in the outdoor competitions at Bloch Park, but everyone still seemed to be having a good time.
The local 4-H Club holds its Round-Up competition every year, a day when its members can show off their cooking, bike riding and compact tractor riding skills.
B.K. Craig fifth-grader Marquita Sharp proved her talents on the grill while making barbecue chicken for the cooking contest.
4-H Club Advisory Board member Wil Jackson said giving the children a chance to use the grill teaches them about fire safety and correct food preparation.
Sharp wasn’t too worried, she said, remarking that she considers herself a pretty good cook. She is now looking forward to going to Marion for district competition in June.
All first- and second-place winners are eligible to participate at district level. Winners move on to state competitions at Auburn University.
