Bessie Louise Johnson Floyd

Bessie Louise Johnson Floyd, 78, of Selma, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 13, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Ira Blanchard officiating.

Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, John A. Floyd of Selma; children, Deborah Ann Floyd of Selma and John Alex Floyd Jr. and wife Pam of Trussville; grandsons, Ryan Floyd and Alex Floyd both of Trussville; brothers, Glenn Johnson of Selma, Furniss Johnson of Vero Beach, Fla., James Johnson, Ellis Johnson and Frank “Pap” Johnson all of Selma.

Active pallbearers are Carlton Loley, Linn Crovato, Albert Crovato Jr., Ron Davis, Ryan Floyd and Alex Floyd.

Family visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.

In

lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Potter Station.

Flora Overstreet James

Flora Overstreet James, 81, of Selma, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, May 14, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. John Davis officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her daughter, Wilda (Joe) Buffaloe; grandchildren, Donna (Bill) Oldright of Orrville and Joe (Li) Buffaloe of Garland, Texas; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; brothers, Jim Overstreet of Chatom, Ben Overstreet of Citronelle and Roy Overstreet of Chatom.

Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband George Leon James.

Active pallbearers are Gary Overstreet, Joe Overstreet, Jim Griffin, Bobby Sanders, Bill Oldright and Perry Cochran.

Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home

The family suggest memorials be made to Westend Baptist Church.

William Clinton Lott

William Clinton Lott, 74, of Orrville

died Monday May 10, 2004, in Birmingham.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday May 15, at Safford Baptist Church in Safford, with the Rev. John Huelskoeter officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy L. Lott of Orrville; daughters, Rhonda G. Lott of Pensacola, Fla., and Deborah Winslett of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Amanda Fuhrman of Pensacola, Fla., Nathan (Shannon) Fuhrman of Pace Fla., and Clinton (Christine) Fuhrman of Tallahassee, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glover Cordell and Georgia Belle Lott, his sister Eleanor Lipton, and his son David Randall Lott.

The Family will receive friends at their home in Orrville, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday.

Mr. Lott was born in Pensacola, Fla., and graduated from Pensacola High School in 1948. After serving in the Air Force, he began a career in the water management industry that spanned 50 years. He resided in Pensacola, Fla., Daphne, Destrahan, La., and had lived in Safford since 1988.

He was active in each community in which he lived, always devoting his time to help others and fulfill his civic duty. He was a member of St. Marks Methodist Church in Pensacola and later was a member of and actively involved in Safford Baptist Church, serving as Deacon and choral leader. He was a member of the Safford Volunteer Fire Department, and participated in many other activities in the Safford and Orrville communities. Mr. Lott had supervised Southwood Farms, owned by Mr. Carl Jernigan, since 1990.

He married Dorothy Jones of Demopolis in 1995 and spent 9 wonderful years with her. Bill Lott was a special man whose talents and knowledge were wide-ranging. He was a carpenter, an electrician, a plumber, a mechanic, and a farmer. He loved to hunt and to be outdoors.

He was a rare man who lived by a code of ethics he learned as a child. His word was always true, he honored his commitments, and his love for the Lord and his family was evident to all that knew him. He was respected and loved and he leaves a lifetime of wonderful memories for his family and many friends.

James L. Doss, 55, of Selma, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at a local hospital.
