Struggles in the field and at the plate buried the Central Christian Academy Warriors Wednesday afternoon as they hosted region-rival Demopolis Academy at Bloch Park.
The Generals had seven hits but they took advantage of six errors, four walks and several wild pitches in their 13-1 defeat of the Warriors.
Generals’ pitcher Kevin May did have it.
May went the distance, allowing a single run on an error, two walks and a wild pitch.
May held the Warriors hitless in the five-inning victory. He also struck out 10 batters.
Dextry Everhart scored the Warriors only run in the bottom of the fourth.
He walked, took second on a passed ball and moved to third on
Chris K. Poe’s grounder to short.
He scored on a wild pitch. Everhart also walked in the first inning.
Chris A. Poe was the only other Warrior to get on base when he reached in the top of the first on a throwing error.
Andy Lowe led the Generals at the plate. He had a pair of doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored.
May helped his own cause with a pair of singles.
Brooks Phillips added a two RBI double, and Cody Key knocked two runners home with a single.
A pair of errors helped Demopolis score a run in the first.
The Generals scored five more in the top of the second as they chased pitcher C. A. Poe.
Andrew Harrison replaced Poe, but gave up a pair of singles.
Harrison put the Generals down in order in the third, but gave up four runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
