William Hugh Johnson

William Hugh Johnson, 81, of Selma, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at First Baptist Church with Dr. John Fain officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral directing.

Survivors include his wife, Dot S. Johnson; son, William Hugh (Mandy) Johnson Jr. of Camden; daughters, Donna Eskridge of Selma and Tina (Tod) Echler of Franklin Tenn.; grandchildren, Amanda Johnson, Angie Washburn, Patrick (Brandi) Washburn, Ame Eskridge; granddaughter-in-law, Jodi Johnson of Columbus, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Lange Johnson and Landon Davis; and sister, Doris Huffman.

His best friend, Matilda, his dog.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Forrest Johnson, and a brother, Jessie Johnson.

Active pallbearers are Don Crocker, Lynn Crocker, Marty Johnson, Bill Huffman, Richard Henninger, Jack Rowland, Bill Barrett, Ken Agee and Rex Sheffield.

Honorary pallbearers are Brothers of BPOE Selma Lodge 167 and the American Legion Post 20.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Elks Lodge 167 Charity Program

Bennie D. Davidson

Bennie D. Davidson, 79, of Clanton, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at a Clanton hospital.

Graveside service were at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Rocky Mt. Methodist Cemetery with the Rev. Willard Fredrick officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include three sons, Bennie (Brenda) Davidson of Alabaster, Jimmy (Kay) Davidson and Steve (Tammy) Davidson all of Selma; two daughters, Elizabeth Diane Fulmer of Clanton and Nancy (Lonnie) Autery of Selma; one sister, Jessie Tucker of Fultondale; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rocky Mt. United Methodist Church.

Robert Joseph Martin Jr.

Robert Joseph Martin Jr., 51, of Dallas, Texas, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

Survivors include his mother, Althea Tyre Martin; three sisters, Jane Aspinwall, Melissa (Sonny) Campbell and Betsy Ferman; nephew, Jeremy Arnold; and niece, Wende Lawson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Joseph Martin Sr.

Barbara Ann Puckett Esco

Barbara Ann Puckett Esco, 65, of Thorsby, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at West End Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Smitherman and Dr. Braxton Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jemison, with Martin Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Ralph Esco of Thorsby; son, Douglas Esco of Verbena; daughters, Rhonda Joyner of Merritt Island, Fla., and Cyndne Duke of Lawrenceville, Ga.; special mother to David Cox of Nashville, Tenn., and Sue Paradise of Alexander; mother, Annie Delene Owens Puckett of Thorsby; sister, Betty Ray of Clanton; brothers, David Puckett, William Puckett, Wayne Puckett and Gene Puckett all of Clanton; and aunt, Jettie Noah of Clanton; grandchildren, Gabe Vines, Nick Vines, Davis Joyner, Cliff Joyner, Lee Joyner, Chris Duke, Elizabeth Duke, Luke Paradise, Wesley Jones and Lindsay Esco; three great-grandchildren, Brittany Vines, Lindsay Joyner and Griffin Joyner; and 19 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Lee Esco II.

Ernest Bryan Longmire Sr.

Ernest Bryan Longmire Sr., 92, of Selma, died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at a local hospital.

There will be a private graveside service.

Survivors include, his wife, Jessie C. Longmire; son, Ernest Bryan (Linda) Longmire Jr.; daughter, Paula (James) Pickering; grandchildren, Bryan (Tamara) Longmire III, Carole (Jeffery) Neichin, Jay (Amy) Pickering and Paul Pickering.

Active pallbearers are Bryan Longmire, Jay Pickering, Paul Pickering and Mike Pickering.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the American Heart Association.

Luther E. Hardy

Luther E. Hardy, 63, of Ft. Pierce, Fla., died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at a Florida hospital. Services were at 3 p.m. Friday, March 28, in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Hardy of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; four daughters, Sandra (Rod) Asselin of Oscoda, Mich., Anna (Tony) Colbath of Ponca City, Okla., Mary Hardy (Randall) Galloway of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Donna (Kevin) Hanson of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; three sisters, Nettie Davis of Sylacauga, Sandra Haught of Jonesbourogh, Ga., and Jackie Peake of Selma; and two brothers, Kenneth Edwards of Selma and Bill Hardy of Holland, Mich.; and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his parents, Buster Hardy and Jewel Edwards.
