Alvis Frith

Alvis &8220;Boots&8221; Frith, 83, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Friday, March 19, at Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Hatcher officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing..

Survivors include one son, Alvis B. Frith Jr. of Selma; one daughter, Sherry Maluda of Selma; two brothers, Paul Frith of Selma and Roy Frith of Clearwater, Fla.; one sister, Velma Wimberly Young of Selma; five grandchildren, Darren (Gaylor) Frith, Crystal Nichols, Dianne (Mike) Brannon, Gail (Edgar) Calloway and Gary (Angela) Maluda; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Frith was a veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW.

Mamie A. Williamson Jatkto

Mamie A. Williamson Jatkto, 84, of Selma, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at a local nursing home.

Private graveside service are at 11 a.m. Friday, March 19, at Grove Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Randy Tanner officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include daughters, Gloria Jones, Belinda (David) Dykes and Darline (Jerry) Hughes all of Selma; granddaughter, Debra (Eric) King of Selma; grandson, Dwayne (Shea) Hughes of Jemison; two great-granddaughters, Mary Mackenzie Hughes and Sydney King.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Westwood Baptist Church AWANA programs, 4085 US Highway 80 W, or one’s favorite charity.

Roy C. Blunt

Roy C. Blunt, 51, of Selma, died Friday, March 12, 2004.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Greater New Hope with Elder Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Annie Blunt; three sons, Roy C. Jr. (Janice), Bertarius and Bertjenski; two daughters, Sharon (Amoure) Savage and Valeria Peterson; six brothers, Mack (Claudia) Blunt Sr., James (Thelma) Blunt, Frank (Eleanor) Blunt, Johnnie (Lillie) Blunt, Nathaniel Blunt and Charles Blunt; three sisters, Dorothy (Exekiel) Chandler, Josephine Cannon and Annie (George) Hightower; six grandchildren; three brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews; two uncles Joe Wilson and Roosevelt (Eva) Blunt; three aunts, Lena Bell Walker, Arthurene Blunt and Ella Benning; and special friends, Ron Pettway, Henry Hicks and Michael Rustow.

Marvin Dobine

The Rev. Marvin Dobine, 85, of Brent, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. James C. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery, Centreville, with Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing.

Wesley Sanders Jr.

Wesley Sanders Jr., 65, died Saturday, March 14, 2004.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, March 20, at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing.

Mary Watts

Mary Watts, 45, of Selma, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004.

Queenie Knight

Queenie Knight, 57, of Georgia, died Saturday, March 14, 2004, at a healthcare facility.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Sandridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Blake officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Garden Cemetery with Miller Funeral

Survivors include three loving sons, sons, Barry (Ruby) Knight of Lithonia, Ga., Kenneth Isaac Knight of Clarkston, Ga., Johnny Henry Knight III of Selma; two loving and devoted daughters Jivvett Hope Knight of Birmingham and Rosalyn Denise Knight of Clarkston, Ga.; one step-daughter Katrina Knight of Queens, N.Y.

11 grandchildren: Monique Watkins, Rod Olds, Barry Knight Jr. Shaquille Benett, Monte’ Benett, Mesha Smith, Rioneshia Browning, Shakira Browning, Keontrae Knight, Jalen Jackson, Kenneth G. Knight;

eight sisters, Josephine Dukes, Arzula Thomas, Bobbie Stewart, Regina Frison, Bessie Malone, Shirley Griffin, Elizabeth Best, Letha Oliphant; and four brothers, Goner Frison, Jerry Frison, Joe Frison, and Samuel Frison.

Honorary daughters, Geneva Meka Johnson and Diane &8220;Di&8221; Curtis; a very special niece, Ruby Perkins Nelson; and a host of nieces, nephew, relatives and special friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Luchie Frison and R.C. Frison.

Mrs. Knight was born April 24, 1946, to Amelia and Goner Frison, who preceded her in death.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Johnny Henry Knight Jr.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Sand Ridge Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until she relocated to Atlanta, Ga., due to illness.

Freddie Gardner, 84, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, in Tuscaloosa.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lily Grove Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Willie Talton, 69, of Selma, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004.
