Two Selmians arrested for trafficking drugs Wednesday await their bond hearing in the Dallas County Jail.

Darrell Oneal Thompson, 25, and Patricia Lewis, 31, were charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of marijuana second degree, according to Assistant Police Chief Deputy Wayne Odom.

Police found 170 grams of what is believed to be powdered cocaine on the two individuals. The estimated value is $17,000.

According to law, the charge is trafficking because the two had more than 28 grams and less than 500 grams of cocaine.

Thompson and Lewis were arrested on Eugene Avenue at 1 p.m. Wednesday by Investigator Nash Gipson, assisted by Sgt. Mike Goings.

Odom said that Gipson had developed information on Thompson and Lewis prior to their arrest. He said Gipson knew that the two would be in the area around 1 p.m., what the cars involved would look like and that they would have drugs.

Gipson had set up surveillance in the area, Odom said, and verified that the information given to him was accurate before making the arrests.

The car Thompson and Lewis were in, a green Pontiac Grand Am, was stopped and both were arrested on the spot. They were then transported to the Dallas County Jail.

The cocaine will be taken to the crime lab in Montgomery today, Odom said.

Odom said a bond hearing for Thompson and Lewis is set for Monday before Judge Nathaniel Walker.
