Lottus Leo Lester

Lottus Leo Lester, 95, of Prattville (formerly of Selma) died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at his home.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include daughter Patricia Ann Lester (Bill) Ramsey of Prattville; daughter-in-law Helen Lester of Montgomery; grandchildren Frank Walker, Rick Lester, Mike Ramsey, Dianne Ramsey, Rob Ramsey and Denise Vanberwoude; great-granchildren Tasha Ramsey and Shawn Ramsey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lester was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Guyse Lester and son, Richard Lester.

Active pallbearers include Mike Ramsey, Rick Lester, Ben Allen, James Middleton, Michael Lolley and James Strickland III.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28.

Clifton Cecil Pressley

Clifton Cecil Pressley, 75, of Selma, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at a local hospital.

Services are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 27, at 2 p.m. in Old Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Brady Lane officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by wife Betty M. Pressley; son Wayne (Cindy) Pressley of Tallassee; daughter Rita (Wes) Mills of Ohio and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Pressley is preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Davis.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27.

Girlean Kemp

Girlean Kemp, 77, of Demopolis, died on Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at her home.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Demopolis with the Rev. E.C. Clemons officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Cannan Cemetery in Gallion with Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors directing.

Lena Moore

Lena Moore, 92, of Selma, died on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at a local nursing home.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 28, at Queen of Peace Church with the Father Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Lue Ella Hall

Lue Ella Hall, 88, of Selma and Tyler, died on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at a local hospital.

Services are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 27, at 12 p.m. at New Sister Spring Church with the Bishop Ronnie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Services directing.

She is survived by sons Aaron Lewis of Marion Junction, Roosevelt Hall, Johnny (Maggie) Hall, Jr. and Joseph Hall all of Selma and Willie J. Hall of Birmingham; daughters Sadie (James) Frison of Birmingham, Josephine (Jean) Joseph of New York, Rosie L. Shannon, Hattie Smith, Margaret Martin and Annie J. Woods all of Selma; 59 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was the wife of the late Richard Hall.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons. Flower bearers will be the ushers.

Robert L. Stephens

Robert L. Stephens, 75, of Marion, died on Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at a local hospital.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m. at Stephens Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Albert Paige officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

He was survived by wife Girthia Stephens; daughter Marcia Harris; brothers Sammy (Bert) Stephens, Albert (Ceola) Stephens, Nathiel (Alicia) Stephens and Cleo Auther; sister Maggie Maxwell and four grandchildren.

John Washington Martin

John Washington Martin, 82, of Orrville, died on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at a Selma hospital.

Services are scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. at Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Orrville with the Rev. L.A. Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.

He is survived by sons John Martin, Percy Martin, Charles Martin and James Martin; daughters Lillie McDonald, Emma Obie, Johnnie Stubbs and Lorraine Eason; sisters Rebecca Tabb and Mary Jackson; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; three sons-in-law; five daughters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Norman Eason, Alphonso Martin, Dameian Martin, Demetrius Martin, Jeffery Martin, John K. Martin, John W. Martin, Percy Martin, Percy M. Martin, Percy Martin, Jabreel Muhammed, Kenneth Stubbs and Darryl Warr.

Luther Hudson

Luther Hudson, 70, of Jones, died on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at his home.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at 12 p.m. at Miller’s Chapel in Selma. Burial will follow at Little Zion Church with Miller Funeral Service directing.

He is survived by sons Larry Johnson, Luther Johnson, Luther Brown, and Walter Johnson; daughters Shelly Ann Johnson, Susie Dixon, Barbara Murphy and Ann White; brothers Marvin Harris and Willie James Sheppard; Sister Johnnie Mae McGandy; 14 grandchildren; three daughters-in-law; one sister-in-law; six nephews; eight nieces and numerous other relatives.

Pallbearers will be the nephews.

Charlotte King

Betty Brown, of Dallas County, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at a Birmingham hospital. Funeral details are incomplete at this time.

Wilson Crumpton, Jr.

Wilson Crumpton, Jr., 82, of Selma, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, at a local hospital.

Services are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Braxton officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Garden with Miller Funeral Services directing.

He is survived by sons Roger Watts, Jesse Crumpton, Wilson Crumpton III, Al Crumpton and Randy Crumpton; daughters Leola Reid, Freda Mobley and Deborah Crumpton; sisters Louise Watley and Louella Tilmon; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; two daughters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.

Pallbearers will be members of the Lord’s Tabernacle Church and friends.
