Two sports are better than one

Two sport athletes are not that hard two come by these days, but the ones that excel at both the sports they play are hard to come by. Dallas County High School has been blessed with one of these athletes. Clifford Lyons Jr. is an athlete that has excelled at both the sport of football, and basketball.

Last football season Lyons carried the ball for the Hornets, and had a stellar season putting up over a 1,000 yards. He also accounted for 96 of the Hornets points last season, and he won several awards. Lyons picked up STJ Player of the Year, several all-county awards, and was named 4A Athlete of the year.

Even though the season is young Lyons leads the team in scoring averaging over 20 points a game in his last four games, and he is also an outstanding defensive player.

Even though the Hornets got off to a slow start this season, things have been starting to come together for them as of late. Over their last six games they have won four of them, and took second place in the Dallas County Tournament this past weekend.

His ability to play all aspects of the game is what makes Lyons such an outstanding threat. He can penetrate with the ball, and also pull off the 10 ft. jumper, not to mention his defensive ability.

He compares his style of play to that of Allen Iverson, and he is not far off with that comparison.

With a strong family support line, and the help from the coaches and friends Lyons should be a threat at whatever sport he wishes to pursue.
