Wallace Community College has acquired two new buses that will enable the college to pick up rural students.

WCC President Dr. James Mitchell said the college has acquired two new 25-passenger mini buses for the college to transport students in various areas, including Perry, Dallas as well as Wilcox Counties.

Mitchell said students, especially those living in a rural county, need assistance.

Mitchell said that the college acquired the buses through an $83,000 grant, a grant funded through the assistance of Sen. Hank Sanders (D-Selma).

Mitchell said that rather than buses traveling on specific routes that the buses would pick people up at specific ports.

Mitchell said that the buses would be another much needed addition to the college.
