Catherine Bullard Bearden
Catherine Bullard Bearden, 60, of Dadeville, died Monday, December 1, 2003, at a Opelika hospital.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 4, at Plantersville Christian Church with the Rev. James Cullins of Alexander City officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include her husband, Billy C. Bearden of Dadeville; Son, Dale Johnson of Titusville, Fla.; daughter, Debie Bross of Tampa, Fla.; stepsons, Dr. Casey Bearden of Nashville, Tenn., and Cyrus Bearden of Lacone; sisters, Jackie Simpson of Plantersville and Peggy Woods of Sterling, Va.; one brother, Buddy Bullard of Selma; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bearden was preceded in death by her parents, Billy C. and Lee Lansford Miskelly Bearden.
Larry Carroll, Chris Carroll, Allen Bearden, Bobby Bearden, Bobby O’Neal and Kenneth Carroll.
Honorary pallbearers are Rex Evans, B.J. Szafran and Bill Tweat.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.
Anna Lee Gillis
Anna Lee Gillis, 88, of Selma, died Sunday, November 30, 2003, at a local hospital.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. John Fain officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include her loving and devoted caretaker, Josephine Williams of Selma; one nephew, Bob (Carol) Cumby of North Carolina; two nieces, Beverly Bright of Birmingham and Lynn Kent of Helen, Ga.; two nieces-in-law, Bernice A. Pitts and Carol Gillis both of Selma; one sister-in-law, Beverly Puryear of Birmingham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon &uot;Pop&uot; Gillis.
Mrs. Gillis, worked at Selma Water Works for over 27 years.
Elsie Delesdernier Seay
Elsie Delesdernier Seay, of Maryland, formerly of Selma, died Friday, November 28, 2003.
Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 4, at Old Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. John Fain officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Howard Seay and Elsie Jones Seay.
Helen Bailey
Helen Bailey, 84, of Selma, died Thursday, November 27, 2003.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Alvin Reaves officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include one son, Richard (Mary) Bailey; one daughter, Arie Lee Gooden; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Lemond) Bethel, Tamika (Kenneth) Grimes, Kenya (Tawanna) Baldwin, Richard L. Bailey Jr., Maris R. Bailey and Jacinta Bailey; four great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; two nephews; special cousins, Willie Mae Fain, Charlotte Norwood, Zenobia Roland Smith, Walker Thompson Jr.
Active pallbearers are family and friends.
Louise Campbell Long
Louise Campbell Long, 99, of Birmingham, formerly of Burnsville, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at a Birmingham hospital.
Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 4, at New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma, with the Rev. Rick Patterson officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include niece, Margaret Campbell Reynolds of Birmingham; nephew, Dr. Ernest S. (Ann) Campbell Jr. of Orange Beach; and a host of great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Long was a retired school teacher who taught for 40 years in the Dallas County area. Mrs. Long was a member of the William Rufus King Chapter of DAR. She was the daughter of James T. Campbell and Kate Sheppard Campbell and the widow of Howard L. Long.
