Selmont residents continue to debate the merits of incorporation and annexation.

Evelyn Huff and Anna Taylor both say they are against the idea of Selmont being annexed by Selma. Taylor says she is in favor of the idea of incorporation.

Taylor, a long time resident of Selmont, said that the area should incorporate for a number of reasons, one of which is that Selmont can finally have its own identity.

Taylor said that even though incorporation might be difficult, that she felt it was possible.

Taylor said another reason Selmont may want to incorporate is because of the fear that the community may be annexed by Selma, something which may lead to community’s taxes increasing.

Taylor said even though incorporation was possible, she still felt it would take &uot;a long time before the community could incorporate.&uot;

Huff said that even though she wasn’t necessarily for incorporation, she was definitely against the idea of being annexed by Selma.

For Taylor, however, the only way she will fully agree to incorporation is when she &uot;knows all the facts.&uot;

Taylor said there would be future meetings for incorporation, though she wasn’t sure when the next one would be.
