With last year’s team going 8-18 the Hornets don’t have much to do to improve over last year’s record.

Porter’s most recent stint as a basketball coach was at Selma High School, where he helped lead the Saints to a 17-0 record, and a state championship as an assistant coach. He has been successful in both the private and public school ranks. In the

eyes of most observers he has what it takes to move the Hornets to the next level.

With expectations high from both coaches and players alike, this could be the year that the Hornets find themselves in Birmingham for the State Championship.

Some of those familiar names that Hornet fan’s found themselves cheering for this football season will also be on the hard court this year.

The Hornets are currently getting ready to take on Keith in their first game of the year on Nov. 22.

Whether they win state this year or not, look for big things for the next few years out of the Hornets basketball program.
