Training the trainer &045;&045; that’s what Capt. Debbie Bryars of Mobile Fire and Rescue has been doing since Monday, training members of the Selma Fire Department on training the community about fire safety.
Bryars said the two-day course, called the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course, which ends today, will allow fire personnel to train the community on how to respond to medical and life threatening situations, about search-and-rescue activities as well as support activities that will aid the fire department.
Bryars said that fire department personnel can train the community on how to better handle &uot;stressful situations&uot; when fires occur at either residences or businesses.
Bryars said Mobile Fire and Rescue trains fire departments throughout the state on how to train community members to respond effectively to emergency situations.
