Eugene Leverett
Eugene Leverett, 81, of Mobile, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, in Mobile.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Mobile, with the Rev. Glover officiating. Burial will follow in New Canaan Cemetery in Chataw Bluff with Reese Funeral Home of 925 Bessemer Ave., Prichard directing.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Keith Leverett.
Oneather Kidd Garrett
Oneather Kidd Garrett, of Selma, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 at her home.
Services are at11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Mt. Zion P.B. Church, 1406 Union St., with the Rev. Bryant Stock officiating. Burial will follow in St. Campbell M. B. Church Cemetery in Alpine, with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include four sons, Don Garrett Jr., James (Annie) Garrett, Edward (Annie) Kidd all of Selma and Anthony (Cherronna) Garrett of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; seven daughters, Beverly (Jimmie) Spars, Carolyn (Rodrick) Moten and Angela Garrett all of Selma, Pearlie Lyde, Josie Simpson, Annie Jones of Ft. Pierce, Fla., and Mary Alice Dunes of Chicago, Ill.; 40 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death also by one brother, Willie Kidd and one sister, Virginia Garrett.
Active pallbearers are family members and friends.
Flowerbearers are family members and friends.
Repast will be held at Grace Fellowship, 402 Jeff Davis.
Mrs. Garrett was born on Apr. 28, 1927 in Talladega, to the late Rufus and Nora Kidd.
She later moved to Selma and was united in holy matrimony to the late Don B. Garrett Sr. She later became a member of Mt. Zion P. B. Church in Selma.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. S.K. Das, Emma Powell, Cahaba Hospice, Annie Pearl Oden and LaToya Houser, and to each and everyone for your thoughtfulness, prayers, support and acts of kindness shown to us during this time.

William Lee &uot;Phil&uot; Thomas Sr., 71, of Orrville, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at his home.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Antioch Baptist Church, Orrville, with the Rev. John L. Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Rosie Cochran Thomas; six sons, William (Ruby) Thomas, Jr. of Pensacola, Fla., Macken &uot;Michael&uot; Thomas of Atlanta, Ga., Bobby Thomas of Ft. Stewart, Ga., Willie (Anisha) Thomas, Kurtis Thomas and Tyrone Thomas all of Orrville; two stepsons that he reared, Joe Lewis Parnell of Orrville and Roger Cochran of Miami, Fla.; seven daughters, Lesa Thomas, Gloria Thomas and Rosetta Thomas all of Orrville, Barbara Ann Thomas, Virginia Crawford, Elizabeth Thomas and Geneva Thomas all of Long Beach, N. Y.; 26 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one special grandchild, Tamarcus Thomas whom he reared.; a loving mother-in-law, Ruthle Mae Holmes; five brothers-in- law, David (Sophia) Holmes and Joe Holmes of Atlanta, Ga., A. J. (Carolyn) Holmes, John (Gertrude) Holmes and Elijah (Belinda) Holmes all of Miami, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Betty Holmes of Orrville and Onitta Holmes of Miami, Fia.; one uncle, James Atkins of Orrville; one special cousin, Rev. Charlie (Bessie) Mitchell of Orrville; five special friends, Hezekiah Moseley of Mobile, Royston Williams, William Richardson, Abraham Ellis and John W. Suttle all of Orrville; nd a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth Merchant and Alfred Thomas and one daughter, Dorothy Thomas.

Dennis Lee Buckner, 56, of Coy, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002.
Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Coy Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Primm officiating and Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home of Camden directing.
Survivors include his wife, Kay B. Buckner of Coy; daughters, Tammy (Jeremy) Fogg of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Shelley (Mark) Holloway of Thomasville; sister, Marie Stevens of Spring Valley, Calif.; brothers, Charles Buckner of Bakersfield, Calif., and Clyde Buckner of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, Carissa, Clayton and Jordan Fogg, Austin, Zachery and Hunter Holloway.

Makita Moorer Davis, 23, of Dallas Ga., died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, in Selma.
Services are at 12 noon Saturday, Oct. 12, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Selma Ave., with the Rev. Joshua Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include her parents, Otis and Doris Davis of Dallas, Ga.; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Moorer (Florence) and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Davis (Dora) all of Selma; three brothers, Marcus Moorer (Monica), Karlton Moorer Davis (Allison), Kenneth Andre’ Moorer Davis; and a special cousin, Ke’tema Lateef Brown; five sisters, Metia Majors (Marshall), Katrina Trimble, Shandah Jackson (Roderick), Shantel Moorer and Sarita Moorer Davis all of Dallas, Ga., and Nashanta Jones of Pennsylvania; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Services are at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Selmont Community Baptist Church with the Rev. D. L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Dr. Henry Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include, three sons, James (Wanda) Campbell, Eddie Campbell, Gregory (Evelyn) Campbell all of Selma; four daughters, Eula Campbell, Dorothy Campbell, Aretha Campbell and Brenda (Melvin) Hall all of Selma; four brothers, Joseph Bennett of Safford, William Smith, Eddie Young both of Selma and Ezra Charles (Cynthia) Jones of Cleveland, Ohio;
four sisters, Arcola Davis, Mary Lane, Bessie Lane all of Chicago, Ill., and Deloris Franklin of Atlanta, Ga.; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; two daughters-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
