A accident at the intersection of the Old Montgomery Highway and Highway 80 on Monday involving an automobile and a Bell South van has left one woman in critical condition.

According to State Trooper Chris Ellis, Patricia Peoples, 31, the driver of the automobile, along with passengers Loraine Brown, 22, Zarius Brown, 2 months, Shaquirius Brown, 2, and Kiara Peoples, 9, were driving westbound on the Old Montgomery Highway, when they collided with a Bell South van, driven by Marta Webster, going eastbound on Highway 80 at approximately 12:54 p.m.

All the passengers in the automobile, who are from Selma, were transported to the Vaughan Regional Parkway Campus. The driver of the van suffered no injuries, said Ellis.

According to hospital spokesperson Clare Twardy, Patricia Peoples, who was reported to be in critical condition, was later transported to a hospital in Birmingham. She added that all the other occupants in the vehicle were either treated and released or were currently being treated at the parkway campus.
