The Cloverleafs have been able to keep their record hovering around .500, but due to two weekend losses, they dropped below the middle mark.

Thursday, June 20, the Leafs were defeated 3-1 in the third game in their series with Americus, losing a sweep along with the game.

Selma hurler Kyle Parker picked up the loss, giving up three runs and six hits. He struck out three and walked three for the evening.

Joe Colvin and Desmond O’Quine had the only hits for Selma in Thursday night’s game, though Jose Colon got an RBI due to a sacrifice fly.

Selma took another loss on the road on Friday evening at the hands of the Baton Rouge River Bats. The Cloverleafs were defeated 6-4, though they out-hit Baton Rouge even after a grueling all-night drive.

Newly signed pitcher Lee Jolly got the loss, giving up five earned runs and one hit and walking two.

At the plate for the Leafs, Kevin Bice was 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBIs. Slugger Joe Whitmer was 1-for-4 with a home run and one RBI, and Keith Sills, who has been hot at the plate lately, was 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

The losses move the Cloverleafs record to 9-10 for the season, but the team returns to Selma on Tuesday for nine straight home games.
