Robert Curtis Sr.

Robert Curtis Sr., of Selma, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Potter Station, with the Rev. D.M. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Churchyard Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include five sons, Eddie West, Robert Curtis Jr., George Curtis, Clarence Curtis and Jake Curtis; six daughters, Doris A. Pope, Dasie L. Curtis, Francine Wade, Elizabeth Allen, Annie R. Browder and Cassandra Harville; two brothers, Calvin Curtis and Jimmie Curtis; five sisters, Mable Johnson, Martha Lindsey, Betty Jean Cunningham, Luetha Vasser and Survella Curtis; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; one brother-in-law; six sisters-in-law.

Active pallbearers are nephews.

Mary S. Pierson, 86, of Plantersville, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at her home.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, at Plantersville Christian Cemetery with the Rev. Otey Crisman officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two daughters, Edith Pierson and Karen (Benny) Simmons; one sister, Jean Hopewell; sisters-in-law, Mary Shivers and Mildred Shivers; several nephews and nieces; grandchildren, David Pierson, Ken Simmons, Kathy Weber, Kristie McElroy; great-grandchildren, Devin Pierson, Henry and Ashley Weber, Kendall, Kelly and Kevin Simmons and Ryan McElroy.

Georgia Ruth Kelly

Georgia Ruth Kelly, of Lowndes County, died Sunday, May 19, 2002.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, May 25, at St. Paul CME Church with the Rev. C. K. Boswell officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

James Ralph Houlditch

James Ralph Houlditch, 63, of Montgomery, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at a hospital.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma, with the Rev. Jay Wolf officiating and Leak-Memory Gardens Cemetery directing.

Survivors inclurde a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Maxwell Ward; son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Laurie Houlditch all of Montgomery; two sisters, Virginia Patterson of Clanton and Billie Joe Pigford of Vestavia; a brother, Jim Houlditch of Dallas Texas; three grandchildren, Sarah Margaret “Maggie” Ward, Mary Kate Houlditch and Mallory Lytle Houlditch; several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are past presidents of the Montgomery Rotary Club ad his grand-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 2303, Montgomery, AL 36102.

Mr. Houlditch was past president of the Montgomery Rotary Club and recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow Award.

Smith King Jr.

Smith King Jr., 73, of Selma, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at Wayman Chapel AME Church. Summerfield, with the Rev. Andrew Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Summerfield Community Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Susie Mae King; five daughters; one brother; two sisters; two aunts; and a host of other relatives.

Mr. King was a lifelong member and trustee of Wayman Chapel Church. He retired from Raymond International Construction Co. in Newark, N.J. He was a member of local #472 in Newark, N.J.

Marva Raye P. Moore

Marva Raye P. Moore, 64, of Selma, died Monday, May 20, 2002 at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at11 a.m. Friday, May 24, at Brown Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Oliver King Eaton of Columbus, Ga.; three stepsons, Lorenzo D. Moore of Florida, Lawrence D. Moore of Detroit, Mich., Timothy Moore of Jackson, Fla.; one daughter, Marva Eaton of Selma; one stepdaughter, Kristy Moore of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Mattie Lilly of Ashville, N.C., Doris P. Underwood of Montgomery and Iola Packer of Montgomery; two grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; two nephews; and one niece.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Heart Association.

Ms. Moore was president

of the Steward Board of Brown Chapel Church, she was a graduate of Good Samaritan L.P.N. School of Nursing, and owner and manager of Eagle Security Police Agency.
