He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; Winston and Alesia Norfleet.

Elder Norfleet, the pastor of the St. Mary Primitive Baptist Church in Uniontown, was the fourth of nine children born to the late Bright and Ida Bell Evans Norfleet of Greensboro on Jan. 2, 1942.

He confessed his personal faith in God and made a commitment to Jesus Christ as His Saviour at a young age and united with the First Colored Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Ed Bradley. He served his church faithfully as a member and a deacon until he received the Divine Call of God to preach the Gospel. He was ordained to preach God’s word on June 14, 1985. After accepting his pastorate at a Primitive Baptist Church, he later moved his membership to the St. Peter Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.J. Washington.

He received his early educational training in the public schools of Hale and Perry counties. He continued his studies in the school of theology at Selma University.

Fulfilling his obedience to God’s will in 1985, Elder Norfleet heeded the Master’s Call to the Ministry. During his ministerial career, he was blessed to serve as a Pastor at the Saint Mary Primitive Baptist Church in Uniontown; Associate Pastor, the First Colored Missionary Baptist Church, Uniontown, Alabama (served many years under the leaderships of the late Rev. Ed Bradley and Rev. Love Joy Ray) and as Interim Pastor, the Saint Matthew Baptist Church, Dayton, Alabama (served for approximately one year). He preached at many churches, too numerous to name. He spent his most valuable time visiting the sick, planting gardens, carpentry, cutting lawns and helping others.

Elder Norfleet led his congregation through many successful building programs, won souls for Christ and baptized many. Above all, Elder Norfleet was anointed with the gift of preaching and teaching the word of God.
