The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, with help from the Selma Police Department, is investigating two separate shootings that may be part of an ongoing feud.

“It’s some kind of beef between going on between the Selmont area and Craig Field, possibly,” said Capt. Mike Granthum of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about gunshot victims brought to Vaughan Regional Medical Center last Wednesday.

Granthum said the three victims were in their mid- to late-20s and had non-life threatening wounds. He said one victim was shot in each hand, one in the leg and the other in the elbow.

The victims claimed they were outside barbecuing when they heard gunfire. The incident occurred at the 800 block of Mavins Court around 7 p.m.

“When we got there, we were able to determine that the crime scene was actually inside the house,” Granthum said.

Granthum said investigators believe there were several people at the home when the shooting happened because people had been playing dominos and shooting dice.

Authorities believe the shootings are related to another incident that happened last year. Deputies have increased patrols in the area.

“We beefed up our patrol out there due to the circumstances. We haven’t had any problems since then. We don’t foresee having any more problems, but we don’t want to take a chance.” Granthum said.

“It’s by the grace of God that nobody got killed.”

On Friday, Selma police worked another shooting in the 800 block of Durant Circle. A female victim was shot in the leg there.

Lt. Sam Miller with the Selma Police Department said there are no suspects, but investigators believe the two shootings may be related.

“We’re piecing together the puzzle little by little,” Granthum said. “It will come around.”

People are encouraged to come forward if they have any information about the shootings.
