Meadowview Christian School is offering members of the community a short trip to a pumpkin patch.

Parents and students set up a pumpkin patch behind the school with hay bales, picnic tables, a place for pictures and, of course, pumpkins.

The pumpkin patch was started as a fundraiser for the school, but Parent Teacher Organization president Raymond Robinson said it’s also a way to provide people with an in-town pumpkin patch.

“This is our first year, and this is something that we’ll be doing from now on,” Robinson said. “We’re going to try to do it every year, so that people don’t have to go way off to go to the pumpkin patch.”

Robinson said the school has raised about $600 so far, but there are still plenty of days left to sell more pumpkins.

“We’re very pleased with it,” Robinson said. “We’re wanting to make this an annual thing every year.”

Robinson said that already have big plans for next year, including planting sunflowers around the pumpkin patch.

But for this year, Robinson said there is still plenty of time for people to come out.

“We still have time for [daycares] to come if they haven’t been somewhere. If they want to come to it, we’ll be glad to accommodate them,” he said. “All we can say is come on and join us.”

The pumpkin patch is open Monday through Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-7 p.m. through Oct. 31. Pumpkins range from $5 through $12 and hayrides are $2.

On Oct. 29, Meadowview will host a fall festival from 3-7 p.m. There will be bouncy houses for children, a cakewalk, dunking booth, photo booth, games, music and more.
