“I’m real proud of how they executed but each game gets harder,” said Bulldogs’ head coach Eugene Foster. “The next game against Linden is going to be a little harder. I thought the running game was good, the offensive line did a good job, the defense did a good job and I’m really proud tonight.”

After Phillips’ first touchdown had R.B. Hudson in front, Bulldogs quarterback Nicholas Parnell ran 5-yards for a score to make it 12-0 Bulldogs with 2:44 left in the first quarter.

Phillips scored again on a 9-yard run with 5:47 left in the second quarter to put R.B. Hudson in front 20-0 but really put the game away with his next run. Facing a second-and-long following a personal foul on the previous play, R.B. Hudson gave the ball to Phillips, who weaved his way through defenders for a 67-yard touchdown.

That touchdown made it 26-0 at halftime, and the Bulldogs kept the momentum rolling in the second half. Amarian Molette scored on the first drive of the second half to extend the lead to 34-0 with 6:13 left in the third quarter.

Phillips’ final touchdown came on a 24-yard sweep around right end.

“He’s a good runner and he’s got real good vision,” Foster said of Phillips.

Camden could not get anything going against the Bulldogs’ starting defense in the first half, but played much better in the third and fourth quarters.

Camden quarterback Kelsey Irby ran for both of his two touchdowns in the second half. He scored on 2-yard and 3-yard runs.

“We had a few bright spots in the second half,” said Camden head coach Kelsey Thomas. “We’ve got a lot of players that this is their first year playing so this was their first time getting live action. We’ve got a lot to build on and we can go back next week and go to work and hopefully get ready for Greenville in two weeks.”

With just over six minutes left to play, a Care ambulance had to pull onto the Camden sideline to treat assistant coach Robert Stallworth.

“They say he should be fine — a little heat exhaustion,” Thomas said. “It’s kind of hot early in the summer. They said everything should be fine but we are going to check on him in a few minutes.”

Thomas was taken by ambulance for additional treatment.

R. B. Hudson’s next game is against Linden Sept. 8.
