The Old Depot Museum held its Art Show Thursday night that featured pictures from the collection of Billy Rosenberg and other photographers.

Many made their way to the show to not only see the photographs, but also see the changes that have been made inside the museum.

“Everybody looks really excited to be here and happy to see all the changes going on,” said Beth Spivey, Old Depot Museum director. “It elates me. It’s just so neat when [people] just walk in and they know the people in the photos that I didn’t know and they get to tell me stories about them. It makes the photos come to life.”

Gail Lovelady has been to events at the museum in previous years and said how great they were, but this particular art show was even more exciting to her.

“We wanted to come back tonight and see what they had going on and also support the Depot,” Lovelady said.

“I think it’s really neat because I was a child here and my parents came when I was nine years old. So some of these are very familiar to me, and I think it’s a really cool thing that they are showing these photos.”

A volunteer at the museum, Kimberly Jones, said the event was great and everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time.

“A lot of people, although they live here, they never take a moment to step in these doors and see what there is in store,” Jones said. “So it’s great to see people coming in and seeing what we have and hopefully sharing with their friends the good things that we have here at the Old Depot.”

Along with Spivey, Jones has been helping make some changes to the inside of the museum.

“Every day is a different project [at the museum]. You never know what you’re going to get with Beth,” Jones said while laughing. “You can’t ask for a better volunteer job.”

Some of the guests, including Jerria Martin, noticed the changes being made and talked about how nice the museum is beginning to look.

“I’ve seen a lot of cosmetic changes. It’s just a neat, revived, [and] fresh almost modern look and I just love it. It’s just beautiful,” Martin said.
