Angels, wise men, sheep and more made their way down the aisle and up onto the stage in front of parents, family and friends Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Sweet giggles, voices and hand claps could be heard throughout the room as the two, three and four year olds gave it all they had.

“This is a big accomplishment for them, even at this age to be able to do this on stage,” said Gina Fuller, director at St. Paul’s Little Friends School. “It’s their first time to do that.”

As Mary and Joseph, played by Anna Henri Thomas and Dhairya Patel, made their way up to the stage, oohh’s and aahh’s could be hear throughout the audience as parents and friends looked on at the little couple with their baby Jesus.

“This is memories,” Fuller said. “It’s a tradition, and we teach them about baby Jesus, and we sing the songs.”

As performers sang carols like “Away in a Manger” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” those looking on couldn’t help but to laugh and even sing along.

“I think it went great,” Fuller said. “It was a little challenging for some of the younger group I would say, but they did great.”

This year’s pageant was a little different than in years past, Fuller said. They decided to incorporate some of the younger children this time, giving them a chance to show off their performance and singing skills too.

“Usually, we have the four year olds in the Christmas nativity, but this year we did incorporated all the little ones today,” Fuller said. “We lost a few little lambs across the way, but they did great.”

Even though the play is finished and the stage is clear, Fuller said she hopes that the children and their families will take away the reason behind it all.

“It’s important to tell what’s the real meaning of Christmas,” Fuller said. “It’s why we celebrate Christmas, because of the birth of the Lord and Jesus who is our savior. I hope that they take that from this.”
