The Selma-Dallas County Public Library’s courtyard will transform into an outdoor cafe Thursday.

The library is gearing up for its fourth annual Fall Courtyard Café, bringing the ladies of the community together for fellowship, fun and food.

Library Director Becky Nichols and Librarian Jan Parker came up with the idea while looking out at the library’s courtyard and thinking about how beautiful it was.

“It’s just a good way to bring people together, and they love the courtyard,” Parker said.

The two women decided the courtyard was a great location to have a luncheon and put on fashion shows for the attendees.

“We’re always introducing the current line of clothes, what’s new and what’s upcoming,” Parker said.

The special guest this time will be DeAnn Strother McGilberry, owner of Lilly Beck Jewelry.

Lunch will be provided by Tally Ho Restaurant.

During the hour, models will be showing off Lilly Beck’s jewelry line, giving attendees an up-close look at the unique creations.

“[The guests] will have an opportunity to shop, opportunity to eat — they have the opportunity to just fellowship together,” Parker said.

The café is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 23, and expected to start at 12 p.m. and last until 1 p.m.

Parker said as of Friday the library has around 10 tickets left.

The event had sold out every year, and they are expecting a sell out this time as well. Tickets are $8 and must be purchased in advance from the library.

“We want women to have fun, and know they can have a good time in Selma,” Parker said. “We just hope this one goes as well as the others, and I feel like it will.”
