Christmas is still months away. The weather is still sweltering and we’re not even done with summer yet.

Last year’s Christmas parade seems like just a few short months ago, but proper planning never comes too early. In fact, it’s better to start early than late or even on time.

The city is already beginning to seek input for the Christmas parade, asking for any ideas that residents might have.

Perhaps its more floats or a special type of float. Citizens may want to see every float decorated to represent a specific theme.

Regardless of the idea, it can’t happen without a little collaboration and sharing, which is why it’s critically important that Selma residents share their ideas with the city. After all taxpayer are the ones that pay city employee salaries.

As Christmas approaches, we’d encourage each and every Selma resident to begin thinking about ways to improve the annual Christmas parade.

In years past, themes for the parade have included Winter Wonderland, a storybook Christmas and Red, White and Blue and Santa, Too.

The parade is often a good time just to share the holidays with friends or family.

By doing our best to share ideas in an attempt to make it better, we are helping to improve the overall quality of life in the city and improving events that occur on a regular basis.
