Florida Carmichael Love

Florida Carmichael Love was born August 10, 1933. She was the youngest of three children born to the late Charlie and Paralee Carmichael. Florida died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Park Place Nursing  Facility in Selma, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Love, two brothers, Obie Carmichael and Ezekiel Carmichael and a paternal half sister, Minnie Carmichael Broadnax.

Florida confessed Christ at an early age and was a devoted member of Morning Star Baptist Church of Selma, AL until her death.

Florida was a graduate of R.B. Hudson High School, and a 1955 graduate of Alabama State University where she attained a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. Florida was an affiliate of the Alabama Education Association (AEA) and National Education (NEA).

Florida was a beloved teacher who touched and nurtured the lives of many young ones as she taught fourth grade at Payne Elementary School for 38 years until her retirement.

Florida was known for her beautiful smile, heartfelt laughter, and caring nature. She truly believed in the closeness of family and friends. Florida was well-loved and will be missed by many.

Funeral service for Mrs. Love will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Morning Star Baptist Church.
