Mr. Jerry Demone Barr

On the morning of July 31, 2014, Jerry passed away in Montgomery at the age 65. He was born December 9, 1948 in Grove Hill, AL. He grew up in Selma, AL and spent 22 years in the US Airforce. He served in the Vietnam Conflict and was the recepient of the Purple Heart. He retired as a Senior Master Sargeant in 1990 and spent his time with his grandchildren and working in his wood shop. Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria Parker Barr of Montgomery, AL; two children, Ronnie (Tia) Barr of Anniston, AL and daughter Thereassa (Ken) McDaniel of Tallassee, AL; six grandchildren Karl, Kyle, Katherine, Koen, Braxton and Donovan; sister-in-law, Marie (Terry) Cunningham and brother-in-law, Danny (Sara) Parker; two nieces, three nephews, three aunts, three uncles, and numerous cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James Everette and Margaret Elizabeth (Jones) Barr from Selma, AL. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. from Chapel # 2 on Maxwell Airforce Base with military honors. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth McDaniel, Karl McDaniel, Kyle McDaniel, Thomas Jones, John Cunningham, Steven Parker and Adrian Parker. Mr. Barr will be laid to rest in New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, AL in a private service on Monday, August 4, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or American Cancer Society .
