Prizes will include hanging baskets, fruit, vegetables, coolers, T-shirts and more.

Randy Chandler, who has been involved with the Selma Farmers Market since 2003, said he will donate some produce to be given away.

“We’re going to donate watermelons, peaches, maybe some okra,” Chandler said. “It should be a good turnout, especially on a Saturday. They did it last year and the year before, and it went pretty good.”

The event stems from a partnership between the farmers market and Vaughan Community Health Services.

Several local farms will participate in Saturday’s event. The list includes Chandler, Dixon, Harrison, Heard, S&B, Strong, Petal Pushers, and Spencer farms. The Real Estate Gallery will also participate.

Customers are eligible for the drawings after purchasing from vendors at the market.

“People that buy from us, we’ll ask them to write their name and phone number down, then that goes into a box and if they draw that name, they win,” Chandler said.

The Selma Farmers Market is located in Bloch Park on Dallas Avenue. The market is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through mid-November.

Chandler said local residents should be excited about the size of Saturday’s event.

“We’ve got lots of produce and goods to sell on Saturday, so there will be plenty to see,” he said.
