While everyone may have high hopes for great gifts this holiday season, there’s always a chance someone will get a gift they do not like and seek to return it.

Multiple department stores in the Selma Mall are prepared to handle any returns that come their way following the holiday season.

“We get a pretty consistent rate of returns,” Brandon Allen, supervisor of Steele’s store in the Selma Mall, said. “It’s not that much higher after the holidays than we usually have. “

He said Steele’s has a 30-day return policy that allows customer to return the item for cash or credit back if they return it with the receipt.

Allen said that receipts are not required for in-store credit.

“If you do not have a receipt, you can return and get a store-credit with the recipient,” Allen said.

Foot Locker District Manager Tony Odneal said Foot Locker has a return policy that will allow customers to exchange items or get full credit for the purchase price of the items.

He said it’s more common for people to exchange rather than return an item.

“Most people come in to exchange, because it is a gift,” Odneal said. “Nobody wants get money back or anything like that, so they want to just exchange it out for something else.”

Returns are also an option for Footlocker customers shopping online.

If the item requested is not available, the individual can still return the product to the store and reorder online, according to the company’s website.

For returns processed 90 days or more after date of shipment, the store issues a Foot Locker Gift Card, Odneal said. He said it applies to those that do not request an exchange.

Returns received more than one year after date of shipment will not be accepted and will be returned to the sender.

Information can also be found online at a retailer’s website about their particular return policy.
