Landis Thomas McMillon, Sr., 90, a resident of Selma, Alabama passed away on Monday December 23, 2013 after an extended illness.

Landis was preceded in death by his son Landis Thomas McMillon, Jr., his parents Clyde and Elizabeth and his brothers Clyde, Mike, Robert and Bill.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy, and sons Michael Stratford Mcmillon of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Allan Swanson McMillon of Kodak, TN. Five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Landis was born in Myrtlewood, AL and moved to Monroeville at the age of twelve. He graduated from Monroe County High School in 1942, attended the University of Alabama and entered the Army Air Force in 1943. During his four years of duty he flew in B-17 and B-29 Bombers as a Radio Operator. He spent his last months in the military at the end of WWII ferrying planes from the Pacific back to the United States.

He entered Auburn University in 1946 and graduated in 1951 with a BS Degree in Agriculture. He entered Sanford School of Pharmacy in 1958, was a member of Kappa Psi and graduated from Sanford University in 1960. He and his brother owned the Monroeville Pharmacy and The Camden Pharmacy.

Landis retired from business in 1987 and moved to Tuscaloosa, AL working as a relief Pharmacist for Harco until 1990. He then moved to Selma, AL and worked for Winn Dixie Pharmacy for six years. He permanently retired on December 29, 2007 as a Doctor of Pharmacy, after practicing for 50 years. He was an active member of The Elks Lodge #167 until his health caused him to resign.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 28th at 11:00 AM/Funeral at 12:00 Noon. Services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rabon Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Pineville Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing.
