SPD seeking information on two suspects wanted for shooting

The Selma Police Department is seeking the whereabouts of Nelson Ellis, 55 and Leon Ellis, 17, in connection with the shooting of a Selma resident, which occurred in the 1600 block of Vickery Street Thursday at 7:45 a.m. Both were last seen driving a red Chevrolet HHR with a Pennsylvania license plate. They are believed to be fleeing to the Birmingham-Hoover area. 

The victim, who is currently being treated at Vaughan Regional Medical Center, suffered minor injuries and is in stable condition.

Lt. Curtis Muhannad of the criminal investigation division said information surrounding the incident is still under investigation.

“Right now the investigation is still pending in reference to the motive of the shooting,” Muhannad said, noting that Nelson is Leon’s uncle, and it is believed both knew the victim prior to the shooting.

Both are wanted for attempted murder and reckless endangerment and are considered armed and dangerous.
