James Arlington McDanal, age 93, of Selma, AL, went to be with our Lord Sunday, June 2, 2013.

A celebration of his life will be Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Marion Junction Baptist Church with Dr. Ed Byrom and Rev. Von McQueen officiating. Interment will follow in Marion Junction Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Dora McDanal; son, James William “Bill” McDanal; brothers, Clarence Eugene McDanal, Theodore McDanal, Thomas Clifton McDanal and Billy Neal McDanal and sisters, Sara McDanal Norris and Doris McDanal Preston.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Mary Juanita McDanal; children, Leslie T. “Dusty” (Wanda) McDanal, Marydell (Von) McQueen and Carolyn McDanal Sellers; grandchildren, James Eric (Jennifer) McDanal, Jason Scott (Crisi) McDanal, Joshua Lee (Lyndsey) McDanal, James Heath McDanal, William Seth (Christy) McDanal, Sarah Ann McDanal (Chris) Fancher, Christopher DeVon (Lindzy) McQueen, Jonathan Arlington McQueen and Amanda “Mandy” Mary Constance McQueen and great-grandchildren, James Eric McDanal, Jr., John Emory McDanal, Bailey Nichols, James Wesley “Wes” McDanal, Ashlee Jo McDanal, Elijah “Eli” Warren McDanal, Jackson “Jack” Cole McDanal and Leah Ann Fancher.

Pallbearers will be James Eric McDanal, Jason Scott McDanal, Joshua Lee McDanal, James Heath McDanal, William Seth McDanal, Christoper DeVon McQueen and Jonathan Arlington McQueen. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.

Grandaddy was a loving husband and a wise, wonderful father. His grandchildren would say his greatest accomplishment was being the best granddaddy ever. His legacy and unconditional love will always remain in our hearts.
