Investigators continue to search for leads on who caused thousands of dollars in damage last week at the Dallas County Sportsplex.

Authorities are still searching for those responsible for stealing more than $25,000 worth of equipment from the Dallas County Sportsplex nearly a week ago.

Sgt. Mike Granthum of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said no suspects have been identified in the case yet, but the department is still diligently searching.

The Sportsplex, located at 108 West Dallas Ave., was robbed last Thursday, April 25, between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Several individuals were involved in the robbery.

Stolen items included a $9,000 ATV, $100 in cash, two weed eaters, a backpack blower and three gallons of gas.

Sportsplex Director Elton Reece said although the robbery set the Sportsplex back severely in equipment, he still plans to move on from the incident and host baseball games throughout the summer months.

“This is just a bump in the road, and we’ll overcome it,” Reece said. “We’ve already ordered a new window to replace the one they broke and we’re working on repairing the fence.”

After vandalizing the Sportsplex with fire extinguisher residue, those responsible for the crime drove the stolen ATV through a large hole in the Sportsplex fence.

“We’re just going to have to work around it,” Reece said. “It won’t slow us down, we’re going right on.”
