The Selma High School Saints could not put runs on the board in Friday’s 13-0 area loss to the Demopolis High School Tigers at Bloch Park.

While the loss hurt the Saints, Steven Washington, head baseball coach of Selma High School (15-7), said the Saints will have to put it behind them and have to focus on improving their hitting in order to win.

“We need to work on our hitting. Hitting is the main thing,” Washington said. “We’ve got to make contact with the ball. We’ve got to be more aggressive at the plate.”

The Tigers continued to pile on the runs in the top of the third when Montgomery, Rogers, and Davis scored on a bases-loaded double by Devin Stroud that made it 7-0.

Davis scored another run in the top of the third to make it 8-0.

Demopolis added two more in the top of the fourth when Rogers hit a two-run homer to deep center that brought in Eicher and made the score 10-0.
