Phenix City murder suspect found in Selma

A home robbery in Phenix City Monday resulted in the death of one man and led authorities on a hunt for five suspects, one of which was captured Friday in Selma.

Eric Dansby_forwebAccording to the Selma Police Department, members of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Montgomery arrested 24-year-old Eric Dansby at a home on the 1400 block of St. Ann Street, where he was staying with his sister.

Dansby was arrested at around 10:30 a.m. and immediately extradited back to Phenix City, where he and four others face capital murder charges.

The Phenix City Police Department said Dansby, along with Shawnna Renee Davidson, 30, Marshekia Le’an Knight, 23, Jonnel Marquet Davis, 23 and a male juvenile are connected to the shooting death of John Dwayne Jones.

The murder marked the first of the year in Phenix City, located in Russell Co. near the Alabama-Georgia border.

Phenix City police were called to Jones’ home in response to a shots fired call at approximately 11:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found Jones suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
