Dixie Flips Gymnastics competes at Bama Rama in Tuscaloosa

Dixie Flips’ gymnasts recently competed in the Bama Rama gymnastics meet hosted by the Bama Bounders in Tuscaloosa. Dixie Flips gymnasts who competed were, from right, Evey Craig, Sarah Lloyd Free, Bailey Brown, Erin Odom, Averee Adams, Natalie Oslund, and Camryn Baggett. --submitted

The Dixie Flips gymnasts competed in Tuscaloosa at the Bama Rama meet hosted by the Bama Bounders on Nov. 3-4. There were approximately 60 gymnasts competing in levels 3, 4 and 5.

Averee Adams was the only level 4 competing in the Saturday session of the meet. Adams scored 34.4 for sixth all around, and scored a 9.325 for a fifth place on vault, 8.325 on bars for tenth place, 8.1 on beam for seventh place, and fifth on floor with an 8.650.

Natalie Oslund was Dixie Flips’ only level 5 gymnast this year.

“Natalie’s scores have steadily increased throughout the season,” said Dixie Flips’ coach Tracey Craig. “I’m expecting an even better season for her in the spring.”

Once again, Sarah Lloyd Free brought home the all around first-place trophy with a total score of 36.850 in the Jr. A division. Free placed first on vault with a 9.5, third on bars with an 8.650, first on beam with a 9.4, and second on floor with a 9.3.

Following close behind Free was Bailey Brown in her first meet experience. Brown earned second place all around with a score of 35.875. Brown came in second on vault with a 9.050, second on bars with an 8.850, third on beam with an 8.850, and third on floor with a 9.125.

Evey Craig increased her all around score to a 31.1 to earn ninth place. Evey’s vault was 7.3 for eleventh place, 8.2 on bars for sixth place, 7.4 on beam for tenth place, and 8.2 on floor for 11th place.

Erin Odom competed in the senior A division and earned eighth all around in her first meet with a 34.775. Odom finished fifth on vault with an 8.875, second on bars with an 8.825, ninth on beam with an 8.350 and eleventh on floor with an 8.725.

Camryn Baggett competed in the senior B division and scored ninth all around with a 34.775. Baggett placed eleventh on vault with an 8.250, sixth on bars with an 8.7, ninth on beam with an 8.4, and third on floor with a 9.425.

Dixie Flips level 3 gymnast placed fifth out of eight teams. The gymnasts will compete in the state meet in Montgomery on Nov. 30 — Dec. 2, and will then begin preparing for the spring competition season.
