Blevins’ 16 points led the Lady Panthers in the scoring category, while Takari Nelson added 9 points and Sharmynn Anderson added 7 points for Southside.

The win puts the Lady Panthers one win away from finishing the regular season with best record in their area, which would make them the host team for the Class 4A Area 6 tournament.

The Lady Panthers final area game of the season will be on the road Monday, Jan. 30 against the same Bibb County team, and Bothwell said his team is looking to finish strong.

“Right now, we’re one game away from hosting and we want to solidify that and continue to play hard,” Bothwell said. “The area tournament is coming around and we’ve got some good competition in our area, so we want to just close it out and finish on a high note.”

Southside will take the floor again Friday on the road at Central Hayneville in a non-area contest with games starting at 5 p.m.
