The Southside Lady Panthers were on a mission, as they became one step closer to hosting their area tournament with a dominating 51-19 win over area foe Bibb County at home on Wednesday.

Jason Bothwell, head coach of the Lady Panthers (12-6, 5-0), said he implemented some new defensive looks in Wednesday’s win and his team was up to the task.

“We knew that we could come in and do some things differently from what we’ve been doing by showing some different defensive looks and that’s what we did,” Bothwell said. “I’m happy that it was very successful. I had some kids that really stepped up. Tanisha Blevins, with her 16 points, really contributed greatly to the team. Being able to have another scorer that I know I can go to going into the tournament and the playoffs is a plus.”

Blevins led the charge for the Lady Panthers out the gate, scoring 9 points in the opening quarter.

Southside took 28-8 lead into halftime, as Bibb County was never able to find its offense.
