The city of Orrville has welcomed a new business to town for the first time in a while. The new Dollar General has been open for a week, and Orrville Mayor Gene McHugh said it’s great for the town.

“It’s going to be a great asset to the town of Orrville. It really is,” McHugh said. “We haven’t had a new business establishment in years.”

McHugh said the plan to bring Dollar General to Orrville has been in the works for years, and the final product is a nice place for citizens to shop. “We’ve been thinking about it for a long time and it finally materialized,” McHugh said. “The property was there, available and they were able to come in and build. It’s a very nice building, nice setup and it’s going to be a great asset to the town.”

McHugh said the Dollar General will be great for local business and for residents who usually had to drive more than 15 miles to Selma for groceries, and the citizens agree.

“I love Orrville having a Dollar General,” said Orrville resident Rosie Collins.

“We won’t have to go 15 miles to get to a Dollar General. We’ve been hoping that we would get one for a long time.”

Lisa Sheehan, another Orrville resident, agreed it’s much more convenient to have a Dollar General in Orrville and will help people save money on gasoline. “I love Dollar General and I’m glad there’s one in Orrville,” Sheehan said. “It’s going to make shopping very convenient. I use to always have to drive to Selma.”
