Mr. and Mrs. Albert Eugene Pegues, Jr. of Marion Junction announce the engagement of their daughter, Kayla Diane, to John Randolph Smith, III, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Randolph Smith, Jr. of Selma.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Deason, Jr. of Maplesville and Mrs. Ann Malcomb Pegues and the late Mr. Albert Eugene Pegues, Sr. of Marion Junction.

Miss Pegues is a 2005 graduate of John T. Morgan Academy and a 2009 graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. She is currently employed by Perry County Soil and Water and Hale County Soil and Water.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Randolph Smith, Sr. of Selma and the late Mrs. Mary Alice Wainwright of Butler, Alabama.

Mr. Smith is a 2003 graduate of John T. Morgan Academy and a 2007 graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a minor in logistics. He currently serves as the Director of Youth and College Age Ministries at Church Street United Methodist Church in Selma.

The wedding will take place October 30, 2010 at Church Street United Methodist Church in Selma.
