Following a bye week to end the regular season, Morgan Academy is now refreshed and ready for what should be an exciting playoff battle this Friday against Banks Academy.
The Senators finished the regular season at 5-5 overall, winning their most recent matchup 36-29 over Fort Dale Academy ahead of the extra week of preparation for this matchup.
While it was an up-and-down regular season, it’s now postseason time and the opportunity this week against Banks Academy is everything you could hope for as a .500 team going into the playoffs.
Banks also sits at 5-5 on the season heading into this playoff matchup.
The Jets are winners of three of their last four games after a 1-3 start to the season, so they are starting to play their best football, but Morgan has the physical stature to compete in a game like this.
Currently, the Senators are averaging 31.1 points per game on the offensive side, while they’re giving up 27.7 points per game.
It’s an offense that has scored 30 or more in all but three games this season, which is what they hope to see in this first-round matchup.
Banks is giving up just 24.2 points per game defensively, but they have given up 36 or more in four games this season.
The Jets are scoring at about the same pace as the Senators with a mark of 31 points per game, which means both offenses are very similar to one another.
Therefore, it likely comes down to which defense plays better.
Right now, Banks is giving up three less points per game, but it all comes down to which version of each team shows up after some inconsistency defensively this season.
Expect this to be a classic showdown that goes into the second half. With both coming off a bye week and meeting for the first time ever, it should be a tense battle with a spot in the second round of the playoffs on the line.
