ORRVILLE – The Selma Saints will enter the offseason with some momentum after finishing off the 2025 high school football season with a 26-point win on Friday night, Oct. 31.

Taking on county foe Keith on the road on Halloween night, the Saints got plenty of treats with 46 points in a 46-20 victory to cap off the season with a victory to finish the year 3-7 overall.

Coming off a solid performance a week earlier with 38 points offensively, the Saints were hoping to get enough from the defense on the final night of the season to turn what was a 41-38 loss last week into a win in their finale.

That’s exactly what they got, as the defense found a rhythm and was able to put the game away in the second half.

Selma was able to take the early lead in the first three minutes of the game, getting an early stop before the offense put together a nice opening drive.

A big pass play eventually setup a short touchdown run for the Saints to take the lead, which was followed by another strong run for the 2-point conversion to make it 8-0 with 9:04 to play in the opening quarter.

Keith, however, had an early response less than two minutes later.

After taking over at their own 40 on the ensuing drive, the Bears got a deep pass down the left sideline for a touchdown that brought them within two after a failed 2-point attempt.

The defense then stepped up and forced a quick punt to get the ball back, but a fumble on the ensuing drive gave it back to Selma.

A 15-yard run quickly set the Saints up inside the 30-yard line and one play later, a great 26-yard touchdown pass in the right corner of the end zone made it 14-6 with a successful 2-point conversion making it a 10-point game.

Keith looked to answer what again with another strong drive, but Selma’s defense stepped up deep in their own territory and prevented the Bears from putting points on the board.

Selma capitalized, going down the field and hitting another fade route in the left corner of the end zone from 25 yards out to make it 24-6 after another successful 2-point attempt.

The Saints got the ball back one more time before the half, and put together another successful drive that was highlighted by a 57-yard run to set them up deep in Keith territory with less than 2:30 to play in the half.

The Bears, however, stepped up and kept them out of the end zone to send the game to the half with Selma in front by 18.

Keith then came out of the locker room and put together a scoring drive out of the gate to make it 24-14 with 8:06 to play in the third quarter after a good 2-point attempt.

Selma’s offense, however, was a tough unit to stop all night.

On the ensuing drive, they quickly got past midfield and followed by hitting a deep post route for another lengthy touchdown pass of 40 yards to make it 32-14 after another good 2-point conversion.

Keith did have one more answer, scoring shortly after to make it 32-20, but the Saints put the clamp down in the fourth quarter with two more scores, including one more 2-point conversion to close out the 46-20 win.

Selma’s offense showed growth down the stretch this season, scoring 24 or more in four of the last five games and 36 or more in three of the last four.

Keith also finished the season 3-7 overall after a 3-1 start to the season.
