SELMA – Two local ministers, Evangelist Corey Carter and Pastor Jon Chappelle, have organized a special community-wide Thanksgiving dinner on the grounds of the former Good Samaritan Hospital at noon on Saturday, Nov. 8.

This is the third year that It’s All God Street Ministry and Restoration Place Church have sponsored the home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner for those who are hungry and those who are homeless.

“The Lord told me to feed the people and love them back into a relationship with Him regardless of their present or past experiences,” Carter said. “He placed it in my heart to do it.”

Dinner will be served from tables set with centerpieces and tablecloths on the grounds of Good Samaritan, the Catholic hospital that closed in 1983. There will be music and messages of God’s love, prayers and plates heaped high with turkey, dressing and all the fixings.

“We think we are going to have a lot more people this year,” Carter said, referencing the government shutdown. “I started out with eight and now I have 10 turkeys so far. Donations are welcome.”

Carter and Chappelle aim to reach out to those who are often overlooked or underserved in the community, bringing food and the word of the Lord to housing projects, Good Sam and other neighborhoods.

Baptisms and Bible giveaways are other focuses. The gatherings feature feasting, fellowship and focusing on God’s word, his Love and salvation as they preach, pray and sing to the glory of God.

“It is truly a ministry of healing for those who are hurting,” Chappelle said.

Donations to this special feast are welcome and can be shared via cashapp at $CoreyCarter327 or shared with Restoration Place Church, 2004 Highland Ave. You can also visit their website at Rpcselma.com.
