SELMA – For the 14th year in a row, the Selma Team Outreach Ministry and Prayer organization, also known as S.T.O.M.P, will host its annual Citywide Prayer Day.
The event will take place this Saturday, Oct. 4 in Selma, with the goal of bringing together the community for a day full of prayer and festivities to worship with one another.
“We are excited to announce our forthcoming Citywide Prayer Day and Praise Unity Celebration, a special event that brings our entire community together in compassion, hope and unity,” said S.T.O.M.P Founder Annie Towns. “Your participation and presence are highly valued. Join us as we stand together for the enhancement of our city.”
The event will kick off at 10 a.m. and will last until 2 p.m. for the daytime portion, but you can also kick off the fun for the weekend a night earlier with a free movie night on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. Popcorn and drinks will be served.
The worship festivities will take place at Phoenix Park, located at 1207 Water Avenue and will include free food and fellowship with three special speakers.
Bob Armstrong of Blue Jean Church will be one of the three speakers, joining Rev. Dr. Frank Asumadu of Springville AME Zion Church of Prattville. Dec. Rick Robinson of SCORE International will preside during the event.
“Our citywide prayer day presents an opportunity for a fresh spiritual awakening, given the historical correlation between collective prayer and profound spiritual movements,” Towns said. “Prayer is not an obligation to fulfill, but a privilege to cherish. A citywide prayer highlights the power of unity, demonstrating that the collective strength of many surpasses individual abilities.”
