Demopolis dominates Selma

The Selma Saints gave up 454 yards of offense in a 47-8 loss to Demopolis on the road Friday night.

Demopolis had 247 yards passing and 230 yards rushing to pace their balanced attack. Tiger quarterback JW McAlpine passed for three touchdowns and 247 yards completing 14 of 17 passes. He also rushed for a touchdown.

Tiger running back Jamarcus Davis also had 151 yards rushing and a touchdown on 16 carries. Carlow James also added 86 yards rushing on 10 carries with two touchdowns.

McAlpine completed passes to seven different receivers with touchdowns being caught by Fred Aldridge, James and Braxton Vice.

The Selma offense could only muster 249 total yards for the game. Quarterback Samarion Woods scored the only Selma touchdown, as he finished with 64 yards passing on 16 attempts while rushing for 54 yards on 11 carries.

Robert Lytle also had 61 yards rushing on 18 carries. Marvin Hale had an efficient 56 yards on just four carries while Cameron Turner also had a pair of carries for 14 yards.

The Saints (1-4, 0-3) continue their road trip with a stop at Fairfield’s Clements Field on Friday night. The Tigers clad in purple are also 1-3 on the season in Class 4A with their lone win coming against Tarrant with losses to Jackson-Olin, Pleasant Grove and American Christian.
