The Morgan Lady Senators put on a dominant display at their recent volleyball tournament, proving once again why they’re considered one of the most dangerous teams heading into the postseason.
Heading into the tournament, the message from the head coach Glen Graham was simple, “Play at our level and improve each match.” That consistent mindset paid off, as the team showed discipline, resilience, and exceptional teamwork throughout the competition.
“There was really no shift in our game plan,” said the coach. “This is a special group of young ladies who know how to play this game well. If we stay healthy and all click at the same time, we will be a very tough team out at state.”
The Lady Senators played with intensity from the opening serve and had multiple players step up with standout performances. Leading the charge was Sarah Moore, tallying an impressive 21 kills, 2 blocks, and 6 aces. Her energy and dominance at the net set the tone for the team’s success.
Several other players earned impressive stats as well, including:
- Brooke Waters – 10 kills, 8 blocks
- Martha Ann Beers – 12 kills, 14 blocks
- Kylie Calame – 14 kills, 3 blocks, 5 aces
- Hadley Verhoff – 21 assists, 4 aces
- Lilly McHugh – 15 assists
- Ally Odom – 16 digs
With strong contributions from all areas of the court, offense, defense, and serving; Morgan proved they are a well-rounded and deep team, capable of matching up with the best in the state.
As the regular season continues, optimism stays high within the program.
“This team has what it takes. We’re going to keep working hard and fine-tuning the little things. If we peak at the right time, we believe we can make a real run at State.”
The Lady Senators will now turn their focus to the rest of the season, using the momentum from this tournament as a springboard toward their goal: a championship.
