The clinic, led by Dr. Shane Lee, has cared for five generations in the Marion area
The Marion Clinic, part of Vaughan Regional Medical Center, recently celebrated its 35th anniversary of providing primary healthcare services to the Marion, Alabama, community. The clinic was co-founded in 1990 by Dr. Shane Lee, and has since expanded to include his son, Dr. Ben Lee, daughter-in-law, Dr. Hannah Zahedi, nurse practitioner Karen Moore, and office manager Malinda Stewart.
In the clinic’s 35 years of serving the Marion area, Dr. Shane Lee estimates that he and his team have cared for more than 200,000 patients, covering five generations for some families. That’s a lot of lives impacted by the 1990 graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham Selma Family Medicine Residency Program.
“I had always wanted to be a small-town doctor,” said Dr. Lee. “Whether it’s nursing home visits, sports physicals, or house calls, I am proud to serve my community.”
The Marion Clinic, located 34 miles northwest of Selma, is a full-service, primary care clinic that offers online scheduling as well as walk-in visits. Its services cover annual wellness visits and preventive care screenings, treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, pediatric and women’s healthcare, sports physicals, and laboratory and X-ray diagnostics.
The clinic also services three nursing homes, Marion Military Institute (Dr. Shane Lee is its medical director), and local sports teams.
To help support the clinic’s growth and meet the service needs of the surrounding community, Dr. Lee recently expanded the practice to include his son, Ben, in 2020, and his daughter-in-law (Ben’s wife), Hannah Zahedi, in 2022.
Dr. Ben Lee brings skills in geriatrics, urgent care needs such as sutures and applying casts, and occupational screenings like driver and military physicals. Dr. Zahedi provides a range of women’s health options, such as well-women exams and pap smears, along with pediatric care that includes well visits and vaccines.
“Adding Ben and his wife Hannah shows how our dedication to serve this community will continue for years to come,” noted Dr. Shane Lee.
The Marion Clinic is located at 1768 South Washington Street in Marion. To learn more about the clinic or to make an appointment, call 334.683.9085.
