And Sebastian Kole, the artist known as Pynk Beard and son of a southern preacher, can think of no better place to spend it than in Selma.

“I can’t think of a better place to celebrate freedom on the Fourth of July than being in Selma,” he said. “Selma’s history has been about the fight for freedom, and I am honored to be here. And I am thankful and honored that the City of Selma thought so much of me that they would let me perform their city’s celebration. It really means a lot to me.”

Kole grew up listening to soul, gospel and country music before becoming a seasoned vocalist, award-winning songwriter and soulful performer. His first single and video “I Lived,” was released on April 18 and captures the depth of his music’s storytelling and emotional power. The song is available on YouTube and other streaming platforms.

Kole’s style has been described as a bold new identity of country adjacent music that he has turned into something uniquely his own.

He is an instrumental writer on six different Grammy winning and nominated projects. His string of career milestones include writing hit songs like Alessia Cara’s #1 singles “Scars To Your Beautiful” and “Here,” and penning standout tracks for Alicia Keys, John Legend, Halle Bailey, and Jennifer Lopez, among many others.
